nile.touch Rugby Rules

Click on the picture to read the Touch Rugby Rules that our referees will be using in our competition.

The referees will be focusing on making the 5 metres, playing the ball correctly and playing the ball on the mark. Please be understanding that the referee may make a mistake but it is important that we play to the referee as they are in charge of policing the rules. They are also volunteering their own time so please be understanding.

Important Information

We have two more weeks, this week and next week, for the round robin and then we will have two finals days. There will be a 3 week break after next weeks round robin games due to schools having their Spring Break. There has also been a change in date for the first Finals Day. It has changed from Friday the 6th of May to Saturday the 7th of May. This is due to a ANZAC event that will take place at NCBIS. We will get more details of the date change out next week.

We apologise for the shortness in the season and the amount of games played this season but we have had to accommodate both the netball and the revolution. We are in the process of organising the end of 2010/2011 touch seasons function at the BCA on the afternoon of Friday May the 13th, after the second finals day. Again more details of this will be provided in the near future.

We are also looking to begin the registration for the June 3rd Touch Rugby Tournament. If you are interested in entering a team please start to organise it now so that when registration begins you are ready.

If you have any questions please ask please email nile.touch.

Players and Teams

We need to make sure that we adhere to the rules in terms of playing.
Players and Teams:

In the last season teams often fielded players who were not registered on their team. All teams will be required to field the team they have registered. If a team does not have enough players from their registered team the game must be forfeited which means the opposing team automatically. A game can still be played using players from other teams to fill in BUT it will just be a social game. If both teams do not have enough players they will share the points.

This means a player cannot play for two teams. They must chose who they are going to play for and ONLY fill-in in social games.

Extra Team and Referree Points

We have added an extra team to the competition, The Opposition II, which means will need to restructure the competition. This means that three teams will play two games a week. By the end of the four competition weeks we will need to make up games so people have played the same amount of games.

Please remember that the referees are focusing on correct play the balls, playing the ball on the mark and getting back 5 metres on defence.

nile.touch Week One Draw and Important Information

The first touch season for the year 2011 will begin this Friday. Due to a change in bus times we will be starting later than the last two seasons at 10:15am. We have also changed the structure of the competition and some player rules.

Competition Structure:
Games will be played 10 minutes for each half with a two minute break at halftime and in between games. We have done this as only two teams will play two games each week. One of these teams will play in the first round and third round and the other team will play in the third and fifth round. All teams will play two games during the round robin competition.

We will also have two finals day weekends in an effort to increase enthusiasm and competition between teams.
The dates are as follows:
March 18th - Week One
March 25th - Week Two
April 1st - Week Three
April 8th - Week Four
April 15th to the 29th - NCBIS School Holidays
May 6th - Finals Day One
May 13th - Finals Day Two
June 3rd - nile.touch One Day Touch Tournament at AIS.

If there are any inaccuracies please do not hesitate to contact us.
